We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

The Objectives of Logic

  • To shape students into confident graduates with excellent leadership, communication, critical thinking, professionalism and other skills important to the transition to the world of work.

  • To improve academic performance.

  • To teach students about being aware of their assumptions, ideas, and emotions; and of the selective perception, attribution, and categorization that we and others adopt.

  • To take steps to develop trust, which is a crucial first step in mentoring children.

  • To provide role models and the information about how they have succeeded and not simply that they have succeed.

  • To help identify career paths for students and support students' personal growth.

  • To use all of the senses in perceiving situations, rather than just relying on, for example, hearing the words that the other person speaks;

  • To attend to the context to help to interpret what is happening;

  • To create new mental maps of other people's’ personality and cultural background to assist us to respond appropriately to them;

  • To encourage students to view the situation from several perspectives, that is, with an open mind;

  • To reduce serious school infractions, such as disciplinary referrals, fighting, and suspensions

  • To equip students with the understanding and tools to make ethical and informed decisions.

“Children deserve great role models.”

The objective of the program is to offer the youth a positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same: empower the youth to make positive decisions in their lives. Logic will focus primarily on middle school students, as positive engagement with this age group is particularly detrimental for mentoring and educational initiatives to be effective.

Mentors will receive continuous training throughout the year and will participate in monthly meetings to report the child’s progress. Over time, Logic will create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to students as well as aspiring mentors and the community at large.
